Love , laughter and bumper cars

Ahhh Ben and Lucy , what a joy to work with you both ! Lucy and Ben got in contact with me all the way from Hong Kong where they currently live , they got married at The old Barn as they have firm family roots here in North Devon . I first got to meet them sometime after they booked with me at their pre wedding session at Hartland when they popped back to the UK to get some wedding bits all in place . We instantly clicked and photographing them was easy! I knew then that there wedding day was going to be a fabulous day and that it was .

Driving to meet Lucy and her entourage at a gorgeous little B and B near Hartland I am not sure I have ever seen fog like it - bearing in mind it was august . I could barely see 20 feet infront of me as I drove the country lane to meet them , but thankfully as the day progressed this did lift and by the end of the day we were blessed with blue skie’s.

Doing hair and make up for all the girls was the very talented Connie from Iconic hair and make up . Champagne was being popped ( I had a coffee ) , and gifts being exchanged . I loved the little gift Ben had left for Lucy, a little box with a photo from their pre wedding session and 10 little scrolls with 10 things he loves about her ( hand me a tissue I am welling up ) !. And a beautiful classic car arrived to take them all to the wedding venue. I headed also to the wedding venue to be greeted by a lovely atmosphere of everyone mingling outside with some tasty refreshments and a lovely vibe beaming around . I really like the orangery where the ceremony takes place due to so much light - light is so very important to photography .

I will always remember that as Lucy walked down the aisle with her Dad ( who is awesome by the way) and Ben locked eyes with her and shed at a tear or two at his beautiful bride that lucy exclaimed “ yes I did it “ . She like many brides wanted her man to shed a tear and that he did , I always find moments like this makes me well up too , but it was a mix of welling up and laughter for everyone as it was such a lovely moment.

After the ceremony and some welcome drinks, confetti and general relax time, myself and Ben and Lucy headed down to Clovelly where we were taken down by Land Rover - I love a little adventure :)

Everyone down there wished their congratulations - Lucy and Ben must have felt famous ! . we did some bride and groom images before heading back to the reception where everyone was sat and waiting for Ben and Lucy to be announced in as the new Mr and Mrs . I absolutely adored the styling of the reception area- Ben and Lucy’s personality shone through in the decor with hints of oriental and travel, and things that meant something to them as a couple .

The speeches were brilliant , I reckon their best man should be a professional speaker - he had everyone engaged and laughing and has a brilliant way of storytelling

One of the requests that Ben had, was some shots of him and his trusty men having a celebratory cigar. All of these little parts of the day led to the finale which was entry to the bumper cars- what a brilliant talking point and activity for everyone - so much fun and great for photo’s .

I had such fun at Lucy and Ben’s day , I am not sure I can call it work. Day like these surrounded by such lovely people , with lovely energies , I can only call my life a blessing to do what I do !
